Trolling and soliciting: your brand hangs in the balance

One of the most lucrative business ventures to go into is direct selling. The reason for this is because most people continue to be driven by word of mouth marketing – they buy only from people and companies they trust. And that is how direct selling typically works – representatives choose a product that they would like to represent, then they effectively sell them to their friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and acquaintances.

Of course, people in the direct selling business have a lot of challenges. For the ones behind the company, you really need to offer your representatives the tools and tips that they can utilize to effectively sell the products. You have to give them training, so that they know how to address any concerns and problems that arise.

And most importantly, the products should work since this is what drives repeat sales. No one would continue using a product or service that doesn’t really give what it promises.

Online challenges

There are other challenges that plague direct selling businesses, and two of the things that you need to be

aware of is trolling and soliciting. These two can really have a negative impact on your brand if they are not stopped.

Social media nowadays has made it easy for people to interact with each other in real time online, but it has

also resulted in people using these sites in an inappropriate manner. Instead of going through proper channels to get their problems or concerns addressed, they simply post on the company’s page on Facebook, for example, not thinking of the possible consequences of their actions.

Trolling is basically done by people who want to get attention or elicit a response, typically in a very negative manner. They enjoy attacking a particular brand in order for them to be noticed. And the worst part is they do these in social networking sites, which can really have an impact in your business.

Now, you can basically ignore these trolls, especially if it’s obvious that they’re just doing it to get attention. But you can also counter them by putting up positive posts and updates.

Soliciting via social media is another thing that can leave a negative impact on your brand. Both your employees and representatives should remember that your social media pages are not the places where they should be soliciting customers or posting advertisements and “salesy” messages. Customers who see these messages can become turned off, and may even be scared away.

Sometimes, your direct sellers or the representatives of your brand may inadvertently do these things because of ignorance. So it’s important that you really teach them the correct ways of doing things and that you give them the proper channels for their concerns to be addressed.

Don’t let them air out their complaints on your social media sites since it can impact your brand in a negative way. Or if they do so, you should reach out to them immediately so that they know that what they’re doing is wrong.

You have to remind them that your social networking pages are not the place for them to complain and solicit customers – there are proper channels for these things. If they continue doing so, they are not only placing the brand in a negative light but they are also making their own business suffer.

What Makes Minn Kota Trolling Motors Superior

I’ve been around the fishing world for a while… over 20 years, to be more specific.

During that time I have learned a thing or two about fishing and boating equipment. I have also developed some preferences and opinions about that equipment. Some stuff is good and well worth the money spent, and some is just plain crap and not worth the money spent to package it.

This holds true when it comes to electric trolling motors. There are good quality models and there are bad models. There are also big differences between the popular brands of trolling motors. Let me explain.

There are really only a few trolling motor manufacturers in the entire industry. Regardless of what label you see on a trolling motor, it’s made by one of those few manufacturers.

If you have looked for some information, you’ll see that Motorguide Trolling Motors and Minn Kota Trolling Motors are the leaders in the industry when it comes too brand recognition and popularity.

Base on my past experiences on the water, I prefer Minn Kota Trolling Motors and, in my opinion, they’re a much better motor. Here’s why.

Durability – This is one of my favorite parts of the new Minn Kota motors. These motors last, and for a very long time. Under normal conditions, you can use these motors far longer than expected. Even under extreme conditions, they last longer than other motors I’ve used!

Design – Minn Kota has spent a lot of money over the past decade, improving their design, making it more functional and easier to use. The foot pedal is not anymore clunky and uncomfortable to use. Everything about the design of these motors makes more easy to use.

Reliability – I never worry about my trolling motor not working. When I need it, it works. Plain and simple. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Functionality – The newest Minn Kota models are extremely functional. The features built in to the newest motors are purely functional. There is no fluff.

Let me talk a little more about the durability factor, because this is what makes these motors so incredibly awesome.

Have you ever hit a stump or rock with your trolling motor? If so, you know that this can absolutely ruin a fishing trip… unless you’re running a Minn Kota.

Over a decade ago Minn Kota stopped making their trolling motor shafts from steel and started making them from a composite material that gives them a new element of “unbreakableness”, if you will.

You no longer need to worry about hitting an underwater obstruction making the shaft bent in a weird angle, rendering it useless.

With the composite shaft, hitting a stump or rock simply causes the shaft to flex under pressure and then go right back to its original condition, plain and simple.

This is a no-nonsense engineering feat on the part of the Minn Kota R&D team. Not having to worry about bending the motor’s shaft means being able to concentrate on fishing, not on where the stumps are.

This one feature alone should be enough to sway anyone who’s on the fence about which brand to buy. Seriously. What would you rather have… a bent shaft or one that you never have to worry about? Enough said!

The next best thing with the Minn Kota motors is the Weedless Wedge prop. It is virtually impossible to clog this prop with weeds. I know this for a fact because I have intentionally tried to do it.

When I bought a Minn Kota with the very first Weedless Wedge prop many years ago, Roland Martin had been promoting it on TV and in magazines, saying that he would eat the weed that can wrap this prop.

After installing my new motor, I headed to a local lake that gets matted with weeds in the summer, with the sole purpose of wrapping weeds on this prop so I could send them to Roland to eat!

I was a bit disappointed that Roland was saved from eating my special weed salad. The motor was able to cut through the weeds, without wrapping a single one on the prop!

Listen. I could go on for way too long about why Minn Kota trolling motors are my best motors, but I think my point has been made by now.

There’s no more time to waste. Get your Minn Kota motor now and get it on your boat. You’ll see how right I am.

If you are looking for more info, check out the Minn Kota Trolling Motor website.

Trolling For Trout

When fishing for trout, trolling could be an excellent means of ensuring that you have a great time in the waters. It is true that trolling fir trout is seasonal but actually depends on what season is best and where. It actually depends on the lake. It could be loads of fun on a bright sunny day with family and friends. There are a few pre requisites of trolling however- you need a boat, motor or oars as a method of propulsion, your fishing rod and reel, a blade string or a troll and lures. The troll and the lures are let out behind the boat, with varying size of the line depending on how deep you want to fish.

While trolling in lakes for trout, you have to fish in the right season of the year. During late spring and until late fall, most layers stratify into three layers. It is the middle layer of the water one can find forage fish due to large amount of dissolved oxygen. Trolling close to the thermo cline or the second layer produces best results- generally 15-50 feet down in most lakes. The forward speed of the boat dictates the speed and the depth at which the entire set up will function.

While trolling for trout, watch for structures, shelters and covers; fish generally use these as a protection to escape direct sunlight, to feed, to hide from predators, or for spawning. Man made structure, overhanging trees, shade, cliffs, and underwater rocks are most likely to hold fish. Keep a note of the steep banks and troll close to the shore. In this case a depth finder fishing tool will save you a lot of time in locating these hotspots. Fish are also found in abundance near the inlets or outlets of streams as well as in old river channels.

Trout fishing by trolling method also requires you to watch carefully for some surface activity like small baitfish jumping or insect hatches. Crayfish, salamanders, minnows, beetles, surface insects are an integral part of trout’s diet. Areas close to inlet and outlet streams will be in plenty. Grassy shorelines, weedy areas, marshy areas are also good spots. When you are trolling for trout, use winged lures. They are easy to rig, cheap and works like magic.

However in order to make trolling easier there are a few things that you can keep in mind. Troll slowly- and slower the better. Use oars instead of motors. Vary the speed in which you are going. It is important to adjust the speed every few minutes because a food item at a constant speed and constant depth and same vibration pattern will not hold any fish. Another Small tip is to work in an ‘S’ curve, this will help the lures drop deep down when you take the turns slowly. With each turn there will be a different impact on the line and the lure signaling food to the nearby fish.

These above mentioned tips are sure to help you while you are trolling for trout. There must be a reason why many anglers prefer this technique of fishing. It can be enjoyed with the entire family and friends. Good luck and Happy Fishing.
