'Dear Evan Hansen' Star Ben Platt Responds To Angry And Disappointed Fans

Source,Source,Source

Dear Evan Hansen has been Broadway’s smash hit, winning multiple Tony Awards including Best Actor for a Musical. The show examines depression, suicide, and bullying. The role of Evan Hansen is an incredibly draining character. When star and Broadway breakout sensation, Ben Platt, didn’t show up to take photographs at the stage door, he began to be harassed on Twitter to the point of having to put out a statement.

Ben Platt’s performance in Dear Evan Hansen is a performance for the ages, so it’s no wonder people want to meet him at the stage door afterward.

So when he didn’t show up at the stage door at every performance, some angry fans took to Twitter to harass him.

As someone who truly cares about his fans, Ben responded on twitter.

I don’t know about you, but this man just proved he’s not only talented; he’s an amazing person.

And his fans couldn’t agree with him and stand by his side more.

Ben Platt, you’re amazing and we’re so happy for your success. Don’t let any of the haters bring you down, because even at its worst, “you will be found.”

Celebrities React to Donald Trump’s CNN Body Slam Tweet: ‘How the F— Are You a President’

Source,Source

On Sunday, July 2nd, President Donald Trump tweeted a GIF of himself physically attacking someone meant to represent CNN, the major news network. The video, which features Trump pulling a man with “CNN” superimposed over his face to the ground and punching him repeatedly, was accompanied by the hashtags “#FraudNewsNetwork” and “#FNN.”

This tweet comes hot on the tails of the President’s blatantly sexist attack of Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, who he referred to as “low I.Q. crazy,” “dumb as a rock,” and “psycho.”

Many celebrities were aghast at the President’s tweet, and said as much on social media:

In our current state of affairs, who better to teach Trump about American history than a British author?

Others noted the profound double standard Trump takes advantage of:

Some celebrities were simply flabbergasted:

Mia Farrow was left completely speechless by the situation:

Others wondered aloud how much influence Trump’s staff has on his tweets (for better or worse):

Musicians like Zendaya offered some much-needed perspective:

John Legend shared his feelings with a simple message:

Black Valedictorian Forced To Share The Honor With White Student Who Had A Lower GPA

Twitter  / Twitter

Imagine a school where the valedictorian is black, but is named co-valedictorian and forced to share that honor with a white student whose GPA is lower. Imagine that black student was not allowed to give a speech at graduation until after that white student had spoken. Imagine that black student being asked to walk behind that white student with the lower GPA. You probably imagined this happening in a movie set several decades ago, right? It happened. In reality. Recently.

“Whaaaaaaaaat?” – Half of you guys right now

Jasmine Shepard was the first black valedictorian of Cleveland High School in Mississippi, a school in a district where racial tensions run incredibly high. So much so, that a federal judge ruled that the school district had actually failed to desegregate despite the law ordering schools to do so more than sixty years ago. The school actually tried to fight a secondary order to desegregate in 2016.

Jasmine and her mother believe these racial tensions are what’s behind Jasmine’s treatment as valedictorian.

Twitter

The school has never had co-valedictorians before and claims the students just so happened to have identical GPA’s for the first time ever in the school’s history.

Jasmine’s mother doesn’t agree.

“These children have been attending school with each other since middle school. We know the schedule, we know what they take and we have a good idea where the discrepancy lies.”

Jasmine was initially hesitant to take any action against the school because she was worried there would be backlash against the other student, who she describes as “the kindest-hearted, sweetest person.” Eventually, though, they did decide to take the matter to court to highlight the school districts actions. They are seeking damages and for Jasmine to correctly be named the sole valedictorian.

People are baffled.

Francisco couldn’t contain his sarcasm.

Twitter

Francisco’s sentiments may have been sarcastic, but that wasn’t the case for everyone.

“Feral savages” … wow. Keepin’ it classy, huh?

Twitter

Whatever the result of the suit is, congratulations to Jasmine on her achievement and we wish her tons of success in her future.

Martin Shkreli Tells Reporter He Can “Do Whatever He Wants”–Lawyer Scrambles To Recover

It’s been an eventful week for Martin Shkreli.

Shkreli, AKA “Pharma Bro,” who gained notoriety for acquiring and jacking up the prices of a life-saving drug used by AIDS patients by  5,000%, officially started his trial for securities fraud on Wednesday.

Shkreli, who previously said, “I’m so innocent, the jury, judge and prosecution are gonna give me an apology,” gave an impromptu press  conference during a lunch break on Friday, describing the prosecution as “junior varsity” and complaining that “people blame me for everything to a group of reporters in a sixth-floor courtroom set up for them to watch the trial via closed-circuit television.

Benjamin Brafman, Shkreli’s lawyer, interrupted the tirade by peering  into the room and saying, “Martin, can I talk to you for a minute?”

So when CNBC’s Meg Tirrell caught up with the pair outside the courtroom and asked Brafman about the comments his client made about the trial and the prosecution, Shkreli interrupted by saying, “He’ll do whatever he wants.”

While Brafman expressed hope that his client “doesn’t ever do it again,” the damage was already done.

Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough Explain The Truth Behind Their Mar-A-Lago Visit

After Donald Trump launched a Twitter attack on Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, the MSNBC hosts set the record straight.

“Mr. Trump claims that we asked to join him at Mar-a-Lago three nights in a row. That is false. He also claimed that he refused to see us. That is laughable,” the Morning Joe hosts told the Washington Post.

The op-ed piece delved into the president’s “unhealthy obsession” with Morning Joe after claiming he doesn’t watch the program.

Trump wrote a vitriolic two-part tweet attacking the engaged pair.

The hosts wrote that Trump invited them both to dinner on December 30, but Scarborough showed up without Brzezinski, who did not want to go.

The day after the dinner, Joe was asked by a disappointed Trump if Mika could also visit Mar-a-Lago that night. “She reluctantly agreed to go. After we arrived, the president-elect pulled us into his family’s living  quarters with his wife, Melania, where we had a pleasant conversation. We politely declined his repeated invitations to attend a New Year’s Eve party, and we were back in our car within 15 minutes,” they explained to the WA Post.

“If she had, it would be evident to anyone watching Morning Joe on their high-definition TV. She did have a little skin under her chin tweaked, but this was hardly a state secret.”

They went on to discuss Trump’s misogyny and how they appreciated some Republican lawmakers calling out Trump’s verbal assault on women.

“It would be the height of hypocrisy to claim the mantle of women’s empowerment while allowing a family member to continue such abusive conduct.”

The pair was threatened to have a negative National Enquirer report on them unless they retracted their brutal coverage of the president.

“We ignored their desperate pleas,” they said.

Following Friday morning’s Morning Joe, Trump tweeted:

Scarborough fired right back:

Try Not To Giggle Reading About Florida's Butt Graffiti Problem

The Florida city of St. Petersburg has a butt graffiti problem. Specifically, someone is drawing three-cheeked butts all over private property, according to a local NBC station. In the poetic words of the Tampa Bay Times, “Three buttocks, formed by four unbroken lines. A simple yet mind-bending design that conjures a police lineup of backsides, or an alien race anatomically different from our own.”

But don’t laugh.

“The bottom line is whoever is doing this is destroying property,” St. Petersburg Assistant Police Chief Jim Previterra said to NBC. “They are marking up the beautiful downtown area of St. Petersburg.” Even though he said “downtown area” and “bottom line,” don’t laugh.

“This is not art. At all,” said one resident of St. Petersburg to NBC. “It’s vandalism.” She was probably crying as she said it, because this is serious.

“It’s causing the city to have to go around behind who this is and clean up,” Previterra said. “And, we have to dedicate more resources to it.” And as far as I’m concerned, my tax dollars should not be going toward wiping butts!

Remember: DO.  NOT. LAUGH.

After all, they’re going to catch this vandal, and then they’ll go to jail.

“It’s illegal,” Assistant Chief Previterra said. “In the end, everyone gets their day.” And by “in the end,” he doesn’t mean in the rear end. Because this isn’t funny. At all.
