Watch This 'Kids React' Kid Change His Mind On LGBTQ Issues As He Grows Up

And because they have used many of the same kids in these videos, it’s possible to trace their evolution on different social issues—like Twitter user VelvetPJM did when he noticed that one of the kids in the videos got progressively more tolerant about same-sex marriage in videos taken at different times in his childhood.

The videos were each shot one year apart, beginning when the boy was only five—one in 2013, the year that a large part of the Defense of Marriage Act was overturned; one after Obergefell v. Hodges legalized gay marriage nationwide in 2015; and one after “Heartbeat,” an animated short film featuring a same-sex couple, was released in 2017.

It’s a heartwarming reminder about how quickly public opinion has changed about LGBTQ issues—and how it will perhaps continue to do so about other social justice issues. In a few years, perhaps, bathroom bans and debates over trans service members will also seem like the distant past.

This kid, after all, is a reminder that change is possible.

This Teen Stopped Her Friend From Committing Suicide And Today They're Married

Someone on Quora asked, “What is one moment in your life you thought could only happen in a movie?” and one of the answers, by Kevin Walsh, was especially astonishing and romantic. “I can’t not answer this,” he wrote.

“Once upon a time I was 13 at a summer camp and the prettiest girl I’d ever seen walked right up to me and said ‘black is a good color on you.’ No idea why,” he wrote. “We chatted and became friends, exchanged AIM screen names (it was the time) and stayed in touch for a while.”

“We fell off each others’ radar some time in high school, but I can promise you that not a day went by that I didn’t think about that girl. Even now I’m not sure I can say why – something about her just stayed with me.”

“In my senior year I went through some dumb high school stuff that seemed earth-shattering at the time, and fell hard into depression,” he continued. “I resolved to take my own life, wrote a note and went to where I planned to end things.”

“Somewhere between 5 and 10 seconds before I would have committed suicide, my phone rang. I checked the caller ID – I couldn’t die not knowing. It was a number I didn’t recognize, so I picked up and it was her.”

“I asked her what was up and she said she just felt like she had to call me. At that point it had been a year since we had spoken, and at that moment she just had to call. Long story short, she pried, I spilled the beans and she talked me out of it. I mean she literally said ‘What? Don’t do that’ And that was that.”

“She made me promise to call her the next day, and we hung up. That night I started writing the words which, ten years later, I’d propose with,” he said.

Walsh told Buzzfeed that talking to someone about his suicidal thoughts helped him. “There is power in saying it out loud. There’s a good chance that the moment it comes out of your mouth you’ll realize it isn’t what you want at all,” said Walsh.

If you, or someone you know, need someone to talk to, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

Actor Jason Segel Is Taking Photos Next To Small Doors And People Can't Stop Laughing

It’s hard to say exactly where actor Jason Segel is right now. I’m guessing Europe. Maybe England or Belgium. Somewhere that a lot of house were built hundreds and hundreds of years ago, where being tall meant breaking five feet. At 6’4″, Segel isn’t going to fit into any of these tiny doors without bending over, but the pics he’s been taking of his wanderings through Tiny Towns are amazing:

When a bit is good, it’s good:

What a great series! We’re really hoping it continues throughout whatever vacation or shoot he is on, but all of Segel’s photos are pretty good.

Here he is looking small, for once, next to this giant artichoke:

But the doors are the big hit:

And all the How I Met Your Mother gifs we can handle:

Marshall did hang around a lot of doors, come to think of it.

This Guy Carved A Gorgeous Replica Of The Wooden 'Jumanji' Game Board

Even though the board game in Jumanji turns your house into an actual jungle, I always wanted to play it as a kid. Apparently, sculptor Steve Richter had a similar urge, because he created this insanely amazing copy of the board in the movie out of wood and resin. He created it all from scratch—he even sculpted the intricate mold for the game details himself.

Here’s a closer look at exactly how detailed his design is—it’s incredible.

The board is fully functional, minus any magic powers—it opens up on hinges with the game instructions on the side, much like in the movie.

Richter even made copies of the game pieces and dice.

His replica isn’t for sale, though he’s selling game pieces and cover castings on his Etsy page. But ADVENTURERS BEWARE: This timelapse video shows how he made it, and it’s definitely not a project for the easily discouraged.

Everyone Loves This Dog Walking With A Bag Of Dog Food In Texas

Over the weekend and continuing into this week, the people of Houston and its outskirts have been battered by an unrelenting storm. Conditions are extremely serious, with deep floods displacing hundreds of thousands of people.

“We are not out of the woods yet,” Elaine Duke, the acting Homeland Security secretary, said, according toThe Washington Post. “Harvey is still a dangerous and historic storm.”

Conditions are terrifying, and seeing the difficulties of the city under the circumstances has been heartbreaking. That may be why this photo of a self-reliant dog has gotten so much traction. Taken in a town called Stinton, near Corpus Christi, the image shows waterlogged streets and one lone, resilient pup trekking through the street with an entire bag of dog food:

It turns out the dog’s name is Otis, and this is a story with a happy ending. Otis belongs to the grandson of a man named Salvador Segovia. Segovia’s grandson and his parents left Stinton when the storm hit looking for shelter, but Segovia stayed and agreed to check on Otis. He told the Boston Globe that he left Otis in a screened in porch with food and water, but noise from the storm must have scared him so he burst out. Poor pooch!

‘‘I stuck my head out yelling and yelling, and no Otis,’’ Segovia said. ‘‘The following morning, I got out and kept yelling, circled the block and everything, and nothing. We didn’t know where Otis was.’’

Tiele Dockens, who snapped the viral pic, ended up following Otis to see if he was okay, and went with him practically to his front door. She saw Segovia out searching and pointed Otis out to him.

‘‘This lady comes by and tells me, ‘Is that your dog coming down the road?’” Segovia said. ‘‘And I turn around, there comes Otis, and he’s carrying food!’’

Otis then set down the food and took a rest—he’d had a wild night.

Apparently, Otis is fairly well-known in the small town, and often runs off alone, even stopping in at the local Dairy Queen for a free burger.

‘‘Otis is a smart dog,’’ Segovia said. ‘‘He knows where to go pick up a treat.’’

Segovia thinks Otis got the bag of food at the local lumber and building supply store, because the owners there often feed him.

‘‘I’m thinking he picked up that dog food and he knew where it was,’’ Segovia said. ‘‘Nobody was there to feed him, and he picks up the dog food.’’

May Otis serve as a mascot to Texas in this time of serious trouble. He made it home, and we all hope every citizen of the city will as well.

Man Trolls Police For Taking Part In Gay Pride—And It Immediately Backfired

Wales held their annual Pride weekend, Pride Cymru, over the weekend. Thousands attended the events in Cardiff, which featured a faith tent for the first time, with people from different religious backgrounds celebrating their place in the LGBTQ community. Worship was also led by a bishop for the first time.

Among the more than 100 organizations that took part in the parade was the Wales Air Ambulance, who sent their mascot to join the events alongside the mascot of South Wales Police.

Police officer Rich Lewis took to Twitter to share a photo of the two…

But not everyone was impressed.

So Wales Air Ambulance decided to reply with the obvious…

You can feel the heat from that burn from miles away. And most of Twitter could feel the burn, too…

Side-By-Side Satellite Images Of Hurricanes Katrina And Harvey Emerge Online

As Hurricane Harvey continues to batter the eastern coast of Texas, people are comparing it to Hurricane Katrina, which devastated a large swath of the Gulf Coast in 2005.

MSNBC tweeted a photo Friday afternoon, before the hurricane hit Texas, featuring a side-by-side comparison of the two storms:

After the tweet, the eye of the storm became more fully defined, and was upgraded from a category 3 to a category 4. Katrina started as a category 5 before being downgraded to a 3.

And we will never forget the devastation Katrina caused:

Good Morning America had an expert explain the similarities between the two hurricanes:

As of Saturday afternoon, Harvey had been downgraded to a tropical storm, but the worst may be yet to come. While the hurricane is already blamed for at least one death, the expected torrential downpours and subsequent flooding are set to create widespread havoc for much of inland Texas over the next several days.

Twitter made sure everyone knew the potential danger Harvey posed:

As Katrina was for the Bush presidency, Harvey may be a defining moment for President Trump. The nation waits to see how he responds, and what kind of toll Harvey takes.

Alex Jones Shares Video ‘Proving' Michelle Obama 'Is A Man'—And Chelsea Clinton Shot Back

Conservative commentator Alex Jones is at it again.

This time he shared a video that he claims is “final proof that  Michelle Obama is a man.” Oh, and he implied that Joan Rivers was killed for revealing this information.

Riiiiight.

Jones, who has previously suggested that the Sandy Hook massacre was a  hoax and who has cast doubt on 9/11, has long promoted the theory that Michelle Obama was born a man but said the ‘new viral video’ proved that he did not invent the theory himself.

We won’t dignify the video with an embed here, but here’s a taste of Jones’s words on the matter:

“Analyzing the photographs, Michelle appears to have a very large penis in her pants. Her shoulders are wide, her face is very, very, masculine.”

“She looks like a tranny and so you ask yourself, are the children a beard?”

DailyMail

Chelsea Clinton took to Twitter to slam Jones and praise the former First Lady.

Chelsea also made sure to mention she didn’t visit Jones’s InfoWars site.

Others chimed in, supporting Chelsea and Michelle.

And she will continue to fight the good fight. Bravo Chelsea! Thank you for persisting!

21 Animals Who Are More Athletic Than Most Humans

I am a terrible athlete. No matter the sport, I am guaranteed to be the worst person on the team. I was okay with that for a while.

Then I saw animals attempt these same sports and they just happen to be way better than me without even trying. It’s the kind of thing that really puts things in perspective. Or maybe it doesn’t. I don’t know. I’m too upset to really think about it right now.

Don’t believe me? Check out these animals and see if it doesn’t put you in your place.

Bless This Behind-The-Scenes Video Of Tormund And The Hound Singing Together

The actors behind Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) and The Hound (Rory McCann) had so much fun (or were so bored) during filming for the latest season of Game of Thrones that they sang a jaunty duet together—thankfully captured in its full beauty on Hivju’s Instagram page.

This video really took me on a journey of Kristofer Hivju‘s Instagram page, and honestly I have an entirely new Internet boyfriend.

I mean:

Or even just look at him sharing, like, crafts that he likes.

Bad news, though—he’s married. And apparently his wife is also kissed by fire.

I’ll just have to live vicariously through Brienne.
