This Math Puzzle Given To Fifth Graders In China Has The Internet Confused

A math puzzle given to grade five pupils at a school in Nanchong, China, has left the Internet rather confused after a local news website shared photos of the questions online over the weekend.

According to The Star, the question asks students to determine the age of a ship’s captain if there were 26 sheep and 10 goats on the vessel. Yes, we were as confused as you are.

The education bureau confirmed that the question is legitimate and does have a few answers.

The answer? Sit down for this one. People came up with a few on Chinese social media website Weibo.

And then there’s this one…

Other Weibo commenters complained that the question made no sense.

Some came out in support of the question.

Twitter wasn’t nearly as kind, though…

What do you think of the question?

Emotional Support Peacock Denied Boarding By United And People Are Confused

Earlier this month, airline Delta announced that they’d be toughing their rules when it comes to emotional support animals. Delta says that since 2016, there has been an 84% in animal incidents on Delta plains, ranging from urinating to biting

Jessica Rock, an animal welfare attorney, believes that people are abusing current airline rules and passing their animals off as emotional support animals, despite the animals having no training.

And now United Airlines, who are also reviewing their service animal guidelines, has denied one woman’s request to being her emotional support peacock on a flight leaving Newark Liberty International Airport.

Live and Let Fly reports that the peacock has its own seat, but was denied boarding.

Fox News confirmed with a spokesperson for United that the incident did actually take place.

From March 1, Delta will require that all those flying with an emotional support animal submit a veterinarian health form and immunization record to Delta at least two days before departure.

A doctor’s note, signed veterinarian health form and proof of animal training will be required at the boarding gate, and  exotic animals will no longer be allowed on planes.

Unsurprisingly, the peacock stirred up quite a reaction on social media.

Some sided with the passengers.

Most thought the whole thing was absurd.

This Couple's Horrifying Facebook Post Shows The Dangers Of Walking Barefoot On Beaches

You thought you could relax and kick your shoes off at the beach, huh? Nope. Danger is everywhere.

Young Canadian couple Katie Stephens, 22, and Eddie Zytner, 25, are warning people to really watch where they’re walking barefoot at the beach after a trip to the Dominican Republic ended with a hospital stay. The two told CTV News that their feet were infested with hookworm larvae after a day walking the shore. The viral Facebook post showing the damage has been horrifying everyone who sees it:

Wow, rare to hear a healthcare story where Canada looks worse than the U.S.

You can see how the hookworms got progressively worse and worse in the photos:

Here it is just days later:

Zytner told CTVNews that though their feet were itchy pretty much right away, they thought it was nothing at first.

“For a lot of our trip, we found that we were scratching our feet quite a bit,” he explained. “Sand fleas we had heard about so we kind of assumed it was that at first.”

It wasn’t until they returned home and the blisters started to form that they became worried.

“I had a lot of itchiness during the trip,” said Stephens. “I think I might have complained about it a little bit more that my feet were really itchy, but mine didn’t start swelling and everything until about the Sunday night.”

They went to the hospital, and were seen by two different doctors who didn’t recognize the condition. Zytner was send home with nothing more than bandages. It wasn’t until four days after their return home that a hospital doctor who had seen hookworms in Thailand figured out what the problem was.

The couple was prescribed ivermectin, a medicine that isn’t licensed in Canada. They had to send in a special request for it—and their health insurance allegedly told them their hookworm wasn’t severe enough to justify ordering the meds.

Zytner’s mother drove to Detroit to pick some up for 88 Canadian dollars, which is more inconvenient than expensive. Though to Canadians, spending money on meds probably seems crazy.

They’re both recovering slowly, though they still have to use crutches to get around.

They say they’re sharing their story so more doctors see the condition.

Hookworms can be caught by stepping in dirt or sand touched by an infected animal’s feces. You might think you’d know if you are standing in poop, but the world is a litter box.

To prevent it, wear shoes outside, wash your hands before eating, and make sure your own pets are treated. This is definitely not the way that anyone wants to end a vacation.

Hillary Clinton Read 'Fire And Fury' At The Grammys And People Have Mixed Feelings

Last night, James Corden hosted the Grammys, with Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar stealing the show, and most of the awards. As part of the show, Corden had celebrities including Cardi B, John Legend, DJ Khaled, Cher, and Snoop Dogg read extracts from Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury

Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House includes interviews with several people close to President Donald Trump, including former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and Sam Nunberg, a former campaign aide.

Wolff claims that Bannon as calling Donald Trump Jr. “treasonous” and “unpatriotic” for attending a meeting with a Russian lawyer during the campaign. The book also claims that Trump “assured” his wife Melania that he would not win the 2016 election, and that Melaniawas in tears when he did.

You should probably stick around until the end of the video, though. There’s a special guest amongst the celebrities.

You can probably guess how those close to Donald Trump reacted to the segment…

Others seemed to enjoy the skit.

While some didn’t seem to like the skit at all.

People In France Are Rioting Over Discount Nutella

Americans tend to either see the French as elitist and a representation of everything intellectual, snobby, and fancy that they despise, or they love them for exactly all those reasons. Actually, the French are just like people everywhere—crazy for sales.

A French supermarket called Intermarché offered a huge deal on the country’s national breakfast spread, Nutella, and things went sideways really fast.

Some stores faced a line of 200 people waiting to burst in and get as much 70 percent discount Nutella as they could find, and there is insane riot footage of everyone trying to grab as much as they can:

“Seriously? All this for some Nutella?” the caption reads. Yes, my friend. Tout ça pour du Nutella.

People caught the stampede for spread from every angle:

Look at the smiles on the faces of people escaping with armfuls of discount Nutella:

But because it’s France, it was described as being like an “orgy.”

On employee told NDTV, “People just rushed in, shoving everyone, breaking things. It was like an orgy. We were on the verge of calling the police.”

Honestly, if your orgy involves this much screaming and pushing, you should call the police. The key party has gotten out of hand.

People have very different perspectives on this Nutella hysteria, which directly correlate to their own enjoyment of it/Francophilia.

Other supermarkets seem to be baiting consumers??

And what’s especially crazy, is that CNN International reports this isn’t even the first reported incident of Nutella violence. In 2015, an elderly man says he was punched in the face after complaining another customer took too many Nutella waffle samples.

Folks, that was in America. We’re as bad as they are. Worse, because we have a whole holiday dedicated to trampling people for sales—it’s called Black Friday and don’t act like you haven’t gone crazy for deals in your life.

They also reported that in at least one Intermarché location, the police were called after “altercations” broke out.

So, what have we learned?

The passion, the flavor, the spread. France.

Reba McEntire Is The New Colonel Sanders And People Are Conflicted

When I think of fried chicken, I think Colonel Sanders. And Colonel Sanders is the epitome of manly ruggedness, with his bolo tie, white linen suit, tiny mustache, and old Southern manners. So, it’s a bit confusing for some that his characters is now being played by Reba McEntire in drag.

It’s not clear if Reba is permanently on the job, or if she’s just there to promote their new flavor Smoky Mountain BBQ, but this version of the Colonel sure throws a helluva hoedown:

Reba teased her transformation on her own Twitter account:

But not everyone is down with a woman Colonel Sanders. Is it sexism? Nostalgia for Rob Lowe’s portrayal? Horror at the uncanny valleyness of Reba’s costume? Disappointment that it’s taken so long for KFC to catch up with the 21st century?

But i’m happy to report that many, many more people are enjoying this change:

According to Time, Reba thinks the whole stunt is finger lickin’ good.

“I thought the transformation was really funny,” McEntire told reporters. “I got a big kick out of it.”

I get a big kick out of Reba McEntire, so if she wants to sell me fried chicken, I won’t get angry about it.

This Dad Worked Out So Much In The Last 6 Months He Looks Like A Different Person

Jeremiah Peterson is an antiques dealer living in Montana with his family, which includes three energetic kids. Bored Pandareports that in August, Peterson went on a  camping and hiking trip with those kids—it is Montana after all. But it wasn’t a fun, relaxing, pleasure trip.

Peterson said that instead of remembering hanging out with his family and enjoying the natural landscape, he was miserable and out of breath. His kids were running circles around him. He decided he needed a change.

He committed to a daily exercise regimen and a keto diet, which means high in fats and proteins and extremely low in carbs. He tracked his progress on Instagram and the results are astounding.

The Daily Mailinterviewed Peterson on his progress, and it seems like even he was shocked by how quickly his appearance transformed.

“I went from having a real dadbod to having a college kid’s physique,” said Peterson. People were coming up to him all the time to tell him he was getting younger looking by the day. It wasn’t just hid body that was changing, it was happening all over.

“Since going from fat to lean it’s made everything better, my hair and skin look healthier, you can see my jawline instead of chubby cheeks and I have abs.”

Well, yes, also the abs. Here he is at 31 days into his program, already looking super different:

Peterson works out three hours a day, which is definitely a lot. But that includes hiking as well as weightlifting. He says that he once went home and drank beer to destress from work. Now, hiking in the mountains is a much healthier alternative, and helps him clear his mind much more efficiently.

Peterson also shared his meals with followers, so folks would know what he was putting into his body to fuel workouts:

And the results speak for themselves:

In a caption of his before and after photos, Peterson writes that he’d been making excuses for himself and lost touch with how he was looking and feeling before starting this challenge to get fit.

Peterson got help planning his meals and workouts from a group called My Transformation Starts Today, a group that also awards cash prizes and runs contests for participants. And he won $ 50,000!

Personally, I was wondering how he found the time, but if you get a year’s salary to work out, that takes some of the time pressure off, doesn’t it?

Maybe he could also get into modeling?

Hard work that paid off. Literally.

This Runway Model Brought Her 2-Year-Old On Stage And It's Too Adorable

Usually when you think of the world of high fashion, you picture glamorous photo shoots. Riding around in little convertible Italian roadsters on a picturesque, winding highway near some blue coast.

You think of statuesque legs in all sorts of uncomfortable shoes trampling down a runway. You think of ridiculous outfits. You think of impossibly beautiful, impossibly thin, and impossibly good-looking, young women making designs seem glamorous and desirable.

What you probably don’t think about is toddlers. But Canadian model Coco Rocha, might just change your mind about that. She recently took to the runway for Jean Paul Gaultier with her two-year-old daughter, Ioni, in tow.

Did I mention they were rocking matching outfits? Because they’re totally rocking matching outfits. I know, it’s ridiculously adorable.

The best part is that Ioni not only posed with her mother, but showed off some of her own moves, as well.

The kid was a natural. Thankfully, someone caught the whole thing on camera.

For being just two years old, this little kid is pretty impressive, following visual cues and keeping up pace with her mom.

People were eating the adorableness up.

While others thought that their hairstyles were roast-worthy, which, they totally were.

Even off the runway, the two nailed their poses.

Fellow industry pros had to give it up to Rocha, too.

It was basically the most glamorous take your daughter to work day ever.

And after looking at these shots, it’s hard to argue, it isn’t?

At the end of the it all, fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier embraced the youngest model to ever showcase his designs.

The whole thing was just too cute.

Fans Of 'This Is Us' Are Furious At Crock Pots For A Surprising Reason

This post will, by necessity, be a bit spoiler-y if you haven’t seen the most recent episode of This Is Us. But honestly? I think it’s worth it.

On Tuesday’s episode, the series hinted at what may be the cause of death for beloved patriarch, Jack. It’s a Crock Pot.

Jack and Rebecca are gifted an old Crock Pot by their neighbor George, who warns it has a faulty button. Towards the end of the episode, Jack turns it off, but the Crock Pot turns itself back on, causing a fire that soon runs rampant through the house.

Though it’s not entirely certain that this will be Jack’s death moment, fans are enraged at the product, much to the Crock Pot brand’s dismay.

This is all wrong. The Crock Pot is an incredibly useful kitchen appliance that cooks chicken and beef perfectly, and makes it easy to cook a giant pot of dried beans in just a few hours. It doesn’t deserve this bad press!

Crock Pot doesn’t think so either. The company first tried to address it in a funny way in a  Facebook comment, interacting with fans who are still distraught:

But later released a much more serious and comprehensive statement to TV Line:

“Crock-Pot understands the concerns brought up by last night’s episode of This Is Us, and we too are heartbroken by the latest development in Jack’s storyline. However, it is important that our consumers understand and have confidence that all Crock-Pot slow cookers exceed all internal testing protocols and all applicable industry safety standards and regulations as verified by independent third-party testing labs. For nearly 50 years, with over 100 million Crock-Pots sold, we have never received any consumer complaints similar to the fictional events portrayed in last night’s episode. In fact, the safety and design of our product renders this type of event nearly impossible.”

“In addition, and most relevant to the concerns consumers are having after watching the recent This Is Us episode, our Crock-Pot slow cookers are low current, low wattage (typically no more than 200 or 300 watts) appliances with self-regulating, heating elements. The product is designed to cook foods over a longer period of time at low temperatures and the switches connect to only 1 side of the power line voltage, so there is never a high voltage applied directly across our switches. The switches within our slow cookers are subjected to additional internal testing, which includes a Rotary Knob Endurance test, Rotary Knob Force Test and Flame Burning Test and constructed of self-extinguishing, flame resistant material.”

“Our hope is that the team at NBC’s This Is Us will help us spread factual information regarding our product’s safety. While we know their primary mission is to entertain – something they have continued to excel in – we also feel they have a responsibility to inform. Just like many fans, we will be watching next week’s episode to see how Jack’s story progresses and, regardless of the outcome, we want consumers first and foremost to know they are safe when using their Crock-Pot.”

Oh gosh. Poor Crock Pot.

It doesn’t seem like their reasonable well-argued points have had any effect.

It seems unlikely that people will change their minds and a lot of good Crock Pots are gonna go to waste over this. Thanks a lot, This Is Us. Why couldn’t you have made a vape the cause? Those have got to go, if you ask me.

Larry Nassar Complained About Listening To Survivor Statements And Judge Aquilina Wasn't Having It

Ex-Team USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison on Tuesday, after more than 150 women and girls came forward to accuse him of sexually abusing them. Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina handed down the judgement, adding:

Aquilina called issuing the sentence a “privilege,” adding: “I just signed your death warrant.”

On Monday and throughout last week, 133 of Nassar’s accusers read out victim impact statements, with dozens more women choosing to remain anonymous, telling their stories of Nassar’s abuse and how it has affected their lives

Since then, athletes including Jeanette Antolin, Jessica Howard, Jamie Dantzscher, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Maggie Nichols, Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, and Jordyn Wieber, have been among the more than 150 accusers.

Aside from the incredibly powerful statements of some of the survivors, one of the main talking points of the last week has been Judge Aquilina.

Aquilina has been praised on social media for focusing on the survivors over the last few days. When one survivor, Amanda Cormier, explained that she loved to write songs as a teenager, but that she hadn’t written one since the abuse, Aquilina gave some advice to the woman and her unborn baby:

Every survivor received advice from Judge Aquilina. She told another woman:

Aquilina told Rachael Denhollander, one of the first women to come forward, that she was the “bravest person I have ever had in my courtroom.”

And one moment from Thursday has people loving Aquilina even more. Nassar wrote to a letter to the judge, complaining that he was unable to handle the continued victim impact statements because of his mental state, and which contained the phrase: “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

“You need to talk about these issues with a therapist,” the judge told Nassar. “Contrary to CNN’s headline, I’m not a therapist.” Moments later, she threw the letter onto the ground.

Despite the attention she’s gotten on social media, Aquilina is refusing to comment to media, only saying that the week should focus on Nassar’s victims.

That hasn’t stopped Twitter from praising the judge, though. With Simone Biles, one of the survivors, taking to social media with her thanks.

There was also a flood of comments from the general public.
