We're Getting A Glimpse Of What Baby Porgs May Look Like In The New 'Star Wars' Film–And Yiiikes

When the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer hit the Internet, people got pretty excited over Porgs. The latest addition to the fauna of the Star Wars galaxy, you may think very differently of them after seeing what a baby Porg looks like.

During an appearance on The Star Wars Show, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy suggested that we’d be seeing their infant form very soon. And thanks to a Japanese toy site, we now know that baby Porgs are absolutely hideous…

This Rescue Dog And Baby Are Best Friends And We Can't Get Over It

Do you like friendships between babies and animals? Of course you do! You are a person with a heart.

Well, here’s a good one for you. Nora is an English Pointer who was rescued seven years ago from an abusive situation by a woman named Elizabeth. Nora is still a little skittish but there is one thing she truly loves, Elizabeth’s youngest son Archie.

The two of them are pretty much inseparable. When speaking with Bored Panda she said, “If Archie is having a bath, Nora is lying on the bath mat waiting for him to get out. If I’m nursing him she wants up on my lap, too.”

This Baby Goat With One Eye Is Defying The Odds And Absolutely Thriving

Just when I think that the world will always be dreary and predictable, something truly extraordinary happens. In this case, it is this baby cyclops goat, who has lived now for eight days in a village in India. Born on May 10th, National Geographic is reporting that he is definitely defeating the odds.

The goat has cyclopia, which means his brain has failed to separate into two halves. That’s why he has only one eye socket. The condition can be a genetic defect, but can also be caused by the mother ingesting toxins during pregnancy. Most creatures suffering form the condition don’t last long. But this goat is a creature of hope:

The goat may be surviving because of the loving care he’s receiving from owner Mukhuri Das, who told reporters that he’s thrilled by all the attention he and the goat are getting. Dozens of people swing by his residence everyday, trekking from surrounding villages. Das said, “I believe this goat will bring luck to my home.”

The Huffington Postreports he told Barcroft TV that he certainly wasn’t expecting anything like this. “I was shocked. It’s like a miracle and people have been coming to our place to see this baby goat,” he said. “It might be something from God that the baby goat was born in our house.”

In addition to having only one eye, the goat is missing eyelashes, eyelids, an ear, teeth, and its jaw and nose are shortened and underdeveloped. Other than that, he seems fine! But it’s these sorts of deformities, and an underdeveloped brain, that make it difficult for animals born with cyclopia to live.

Das has apparently been feeding him like a normal goat and he’s doing fine. Maybe this goat has the perfect balance of needed abilities to make it work, or maybe a goat doesn’t actually need a fully developed brain to survive. He still baas. Long live cyclops goat!

Dad Photoshops Baby Into Dangerous Situations For A Heartwarming Cause

Stephen Crowley has blown up online since sharing a bunch of pictures he photoshopped to Reddit under a post titled, “I’ve been photoshopping my kid into marginally dangerous situations. Nothing unbelievable, but enough to make people think ‘Wait, did he..?'” Until now, Stephen’s pictures of his daughter, Hannah, have mostly been used to freak out other family members, but since sharing them, his Reddit post has become the 12th most popular Reddit link of all time, according to Peta Pixel, with over 151,000 upvotes. That’s a lot of people who like seeing a baby in danger:

Stephen told Huh Magazine that the fame has been almost as a enjoyable as tormenting grandma with astonishingly believable photoshop jobs. “I thought it would be fun to worry family by putting someone delicate in precarious situations,” he says. “Most of the reactions have been positive, with the odd person not getting the joke and commenting I ‘should be shot.'” He has also commented that he wants this viral moment to do some good, and draw attention to an organization called Be The Match

You see, Hannah was in a real life dangerous situation. At 4 months old she was diagnosed with a rare immune disorder called HLN, and over the next eight months she had to receive both chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. A transplant is the only cure for HLN. Stephen wants more people to read Hannah’s story and consider becoming bone marrow donors. He says, “Of 27 million worldwide donors, 3 were deemed suitable, and an anonymous German lady donated.”

After eight months of treatment, Hannah is much better and out and about again, taking pics with dad. And they both seemed to have retained their sense of humor:

But what does Stephen’s wife think of all these? He wrote in a comment on Reddit, “My wife actually works for the Irish equivalent of CPS so she’s particularly bothered by these.” But they have apparently come to an understanding, and as we can all see— Hannah is perfectly safe in her dad’s arms.

Chrissy Teigen And John Legend's Baby Said Her First Word And It's Priceless

Chrissy Teigen And John Legend’s Baby Said Her First Word And It’s Priceless

An example of a perfect animal is a cat. It’s the internet’s mascot. Their combination of silliness and cuddliness makes them the epitome of animalistic excellence.

An example of a perfect couple is the union of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. Seriously, they always look like they’re having an amazing time.

And they have a perfect little baby. I mean seriously, just look at Luna chilling with her bulldog right here.

Cheeks for days, my god.

Luna’s approaching her first birthday, and is currently celebrating with Mama Teigen and Papa Legend in Morocco.

The trip is packed with “firsts” for this little ball of adorableness. Like her first time reading a book without pictures.

And the first time she wore a bow.

First bow!

A post shared by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on

But most exciting of all: Luna’s first word.

Yes, her first word wasn’t “mama,” or “dada,” but “cat.” Well technically “caa”- but still, it’s pretty awesome. Babies are the best, as are cats. Win-win, am I right?

Study Says Puppies Understand Baby Speak Better Than Regular Speech

If you’ve ever played with a puppy, you’ve probably talked to it like you’d speak to a baby.  If you’ve ever talked baby talk to a puppy, you surely had a very un-fun person ask you why you were doing that. The next time this happens you can just say “Science!” and continue to play with your dog.

A study published in Proceedings of Royal Society B showed some fascinating results about the effects of baby talk on dogs of different ages. The study was conducted by having female volunteers record the line “Hi! Hello cutie! Who’s a good boy? Come here! Good boy! Yes! Come here sweetie pie! What a good boy!” while looking at pictures of puppies, adult dogs, old dogs, and humans.

While there was little change in the pitch while looking at other humans, there was a noticeable difference when looking at the pictures of dogs. On average, the pitch increased by 13 percent for the old dogs, 11 percent for the adult dogs, and a whopping 21 percent for the puppies.

The scientists then played the recordings over the loudspeaker in an animal shelter in New York City. Upon hearing these recordings the puppies rushed over to the loudspeaker and stayed there for a while. Furthermore, they reacted better to the puppy recordings than to the human recordings, staying at the loudspeaker for longer.

The adult dogs reacted similarly to both the recording for adult dogs and the recording for humans. In both cases, the recordings were mostly ignored. They would glance over to the loud speaker and then go back to whatever they were doing before. Nicolas Mathevon, co-author of the study, speculates that “[M]aybe older dogs do not react that way because they are just more choosy and they want only to react with a familiar person.”

This study was then replicated in France and Italy with French and Italian speakers, respectively, where it achieved the same results.

So what does this all mean? An early theory has to do to do with the “Baby Schema” which is that humans evolved to find things like big eyes cute as a way to ensure early humans had a desire to take care of there offspring. As a result, we have a desire to care for other animals that also have a classically cute appearance.

However, this does not seem to be the real reason why we speak this way to puppies. According to Mathevon:

One of the hypotheses was that we humans use this dog-directed speech because we are sensitive to the baby cues that come from the face of a small baby [animal] as we are sensitive to the faces of our babies. But actually our study demonstrates that we use pet-directed speech or infant-directed speech not only because of that but maybe we use this kind of speech pattern when we want to engage and interact with a non-speaking listener. Maybe this speaking strategy is used in any context when we feel that the listener may not fully master the language or has difficulty to understand us.

So be sure to use a high pitched voice when you explain this to your pup tonight. Otherwise they might get confused.

Parents Turn To Facebook To Help Find The Custom-Blanket They Took Their Baby Home In

I remember nearly every detail, down to the socks he was wearing, when I first brought my son home from the hospital. The way I gingerly put him in the car seat. The way my wife kept looking at him as she sat in the back of the car. His little polar bear onesie and how the flowers in the vase tipped over and got water all over my laptop, breaking it. Me being angry for two seconds then looking at my son’s face and forgetting all about it.

I still have the clothes my baby boy was wearing that day tucked away. I can’t wait to show him that blanket and outfit in the future. And who knows? If he has a kid one day maybe they can use the same outfit and blanket, but that’s years from now.

Most likely the blanket and clothes will be lost or destroyed from now until then, but I admit that if I lost that t hing now, I’d be crushed.

Just like this family was to discover that the homemade blanket they brought their baby girl from the hospital in went missing.

So her parents put out the word in hopes that their blankie would be found.

Today at brunch (McGuire’s) somewhere between our walk inside, while we were eating, or our exit out of the restaurant, our precious girl’s blanket went missing. (This is the blanket she sleeps with every night and was brought home from the hospital wrapped in). Unaware of this until we made it home, I rushed back to McGuire’s with no luck, searched the whole restaurant up and down along with the parking lot. I know social media is big nowadays so every share means a lot and we would really like to have the blanket returned, no harm no foul on whether it was accidentally picked up and forgot about or whatever may have happened to it. Please share this and hopefully this hand-made, sentimental blanket can be returned to the rightful owner, contact me if it is found, thank you all. Corey Ness – (850)-293-2176! ?

People began sharing their message, but so far, it hasn’t turned up.

Chrissy Teigen Dressed Up Baby Luna For Halloween And We Can't Handle All The Cute

Chrissy Teigen, Reigning Queen of Twitter, Celebrity Crush of Many, is a multi-talented woman. She’s a successful model, businesswoman, cookbook author, and unrivaled amateur Twitter comedian.

Her newest talent? Finding the best baby Halloween costumes.

Since the birth of her daughter Luna, Teigen has dedicated much of her time to being a doting mother.

And she won’t stand for Twitter heat from mommy-shamers trying to pick apart her every move, either. Her online fire isn’t reserved for fighting Piers Morgan and Donald Trump — she’s taken down her fair share of parenting critics.

If Instagram is any indication, she especially enjoys dressing up her new kiddo in adorable outfits.

This is the point of parenthood, right?

So, it’s no surprise that she went all out for Luna’s for Halloween — and she shared some of the potential costumes on Instagram.

Sure, Luna’s facial expression is reminiscent of something you’d see in a hostage video, but she’s the cutest lil’ hot dog we’ve ever seen. We wholeheartedly approve.

Since Teigen is A GOOD MOTHER, there were many more costumes to choose from.

While the peacock headdress and webbed feet booties are probably very confusing to an infant, we couldn’t love them more.

It became clear that the Halloween shopping had become more than just a hobby.

But how could you NOT buy the Minnie dress? It’s all ruffly and cute! And it could be worn for special occasions…? If those special occasions were in the mid-20th century?

However, she saved the best costume for last.

???

A photo posted by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on

Fingers crossed that Luna makes her trick-or-treating debut in Hollywood wearing this little outfit. Well, this or the hotdog. Food costumes are always the way to go.

As always, Chrissy, we approve.

These Siblings Are Making A Baby Together But It's Not What You Think

There’s really no “normal” way to parent anymore— at this point, we’ve heard it all… From celebrities spitting pre-chewed food into their toddlers’ mouths to families forgoing “the system” to rear “free-range” children who don’t wear shoes and eat every plant they see. However, one taboo remains: having a kid with your sibling. Except in a few cases— like the case of Samuel Leighton-Dore and his sister.

It’s not weird— we promise. Although, we admit his blog post about the scenario starts off rather oddly: “I’m going to have a baby with my sister, and we couldn’t be more excited.”

Leighton-Dore, who is gay, plans to have a child with his partner— but wants the child to actually be a genetic combination of the two of them. “The only possible chance my partner and I have of waving our respective biological flags in our future kid’s DNA is if my sister donates an egg for my partner’s sperm,” he wrote in a post on parenting blog Mamamia. “No, she won’t be carrying the baby—just offering up the bun for another yet-to-be-determined woman’s oven.”

This hypothetical baby may not happen for a while, though.

Leighton-Dore said he and his partner won’t be starting a family for quite some time, but they are planning ahead.

So, he asked his sister while they were both “a little drunk at a family function,” (the best time to ask for anything). And it seemed to work: he wrote that she “squealed in delight at the prospect.”

Whatever happens, this will be one lucky kid.

Just read the last line of the blogpost.

And yeah, our family story might have a few extra narrative beats, a few extra laughs, and a few extra challenges. But one thing’s for sure, when the time comes – it’ll always be told with unconditional love.
