Fans Of 'This Is Us' Are Furious At Crock Pots For A Surprising Reason

This post will, by necessity, be a bit spoiler-y if you haven’t seen the most recent episode of This Is Us. But honestly? I think it’s worth it.

On Tuesday’s episode, the series hinted at what may be the cause of death for beloved patriarch, Jack. It’s a Crock Pot.

Jack and Rebecca are gifted an old Crock Pot by their neighbor George, who warns it has a faulty button. Towards the end of the episode, Jack turns it off, but the Crock Pot turns itself back on, causing a fire that soon runs rampant through the house.

Though it’s not entirely certain that this will be Jack’s death moment, fans are enraged at the product, much to the Crock Pot brand’s dismay.

This is all wrong. The Crock Pot is an incredibly useful kitchen appliance that cooks chicken and beef perfectly, and makes it easy to cook a giant pot of dried beans in just a few hours. It doesn’t deserve this bad press!

Crock Pot doesn’t think so either. The company first tried to address it in a funny way in a  Facebook comment, interacting with fans who are still distraught:

But later released a much more serious and comprehensive statement to TV Line:

“Crock-Pot understands the concerns brought up by last night’s episode of This Is Us, and we too are heartbroken by the latest development in Jack’s storyline. However, it is important that our consumers understand and have confidence that all Crock-Pot slow cookers exceed all internal testing protocols and all applicable industry safety standards and regulations as verified by independent third-party testing labs. For nearly 50 years, with over 100 million Crock-Pots sold, we have never received any consumer complaints similar to the fictional events portrayed in last night’s episode. In fact, the safety and design of our product renders this type of event nearly impossible.”

“In addition, and most relevant to the concerns consumers are having after watching the recent This Is Us episode, our Crock-Pot slow cookers are low current, low wattage (typically no more than 200 or 300 watts) appliances with self-regulating, heating elements. The product is designed to cook foods over a longer period of time at low temperatures and the switches connect to only 1 side of the power line voltage, so there is never a high voltage applied directly across our switches. The switches within our slow cookers are subjected to additional internal testing, which includes a Rotary Knob Endurance test, Rotary Knob Force Test and Flame Burning Test and constructed of self-extinguishing, flame resistant material.”

“Our hope is that the team at NBC’s This Is Us will help us spread factual information regarding our product’s safety. While we know their primary mission is to entertain – something they have continued to excel in – we also feel they have a responsibility to inform. Just like many fans, we will be watching next week’s episode to see how Jack’s story progresses and, regardless of the outcome, we want consumers first and foremost to know they are safe when using their Crock-Pot.”

Oh gosh. Poor Crock Pot.

It doesn’t seem like their reasonable well-argued points have had any effect.

It seems unlikely that people will change their minds and a lot of good Crock Pots are gonna go to waste over this. Thanks a lot, This Is Us. Why couldn’t you have made a vape the cause? Those have got to go, if you ask me.

Ivanka Trump Just Followed Rihanna On Twitter—And Her Fans Are Not Having It

She was recently called a hypocrite for praising US workers as being “the best”, while using foreign workers to produce her goods. She also gave a talk about female empowerment in India, while employing factories that violated human rights of workers.

Then there’s the whole messy business of the Trump name being tied to White Supremacy, something that doesn’t sit well with a lot of Americans.

Which is probably why a lot of Rihanna’s fans are upset that Ivanka Trump started following the pop star on Twitter.

Rihanna’s been pretty vocal about her distaste of Donald Trump and his policies.

Back in January of 2017 when Trump implemented the unconstitutional travel ban, Rihanna was pretty vocal about how she felt regarding the ruling.

Then there was the singer’s criticism of how Trump handled the crisis in Puerto Rico.

So people are really flustered as to why Ivanka would elect to follow BadGirlRiRi.

People are waiting in anticipation to see how she’s going to react to her new follower.

They’re hoping it’s along the lines of this:

How do you think Rihanna will react? Is this a huge media opportunity the singer won’t be able to pass up?

Or should be drop the ban hammer?

Disney's CEO Just Told Fans What They Can Expect From 'Deadpool 2'—And They're Ecstatic

One of the biggest reasons the original Deadpool film was such a huge success and earned Fox such a ginormous box office return was because Ryan Reynolds worked his butt off to ensure it was as Deadpool-ey of a movie as possible.

That meant violence. It meant gore. It meant sex and inappropriate jokes and a lot of breaking the fourth wall.

Now that kind of thing might seem like a movie producer’s worst nightmare. Major motion picture studios looking for the highest rate of return are allured by family-friendly, safe cinematic choices. The more mundane and mediocre and inoffensive a film is, the more guaranteed of a return of investment, statistically speaking.

I mean, there’s a reason why a film about a bunch of murderous bad guys ended up being rated PG-13 and watered down to a “meh” mess. A “meh” mess that nabbed nearly $ 750 million at the box office.

Deadpool was a huge departure from that boring, MPAA-rating-friendly studio process and it ended up reaping the benefits. Fox greenlit a sequel almost immediately after the film’s opening box-office numbers came in, and things were looking great.

But Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, assures fan that Disney’s got no problem with being in the R-rated film business, just as long as “audiences know what’s coming.”

Which means that the upcoming film won’t receive a whole bunch of edits and cuts for the sake of assuring the film isn’t “too edgy.”

Ryan Reynolds took the news of Disney’s buyout in typical Deadpool fashion.

And Twitter was ecstatic that their favorite foul mouthed red bodysuit wearing unkillable smart-cracking ninja won’t be censored.

But people don’t want the love to stop at Deadpool 2, they’re worried that Iger’s just talking about the film as if it’s a one time thing.

While others aren’t exactly holding out hope for the future.

It could make sense for Disney to keep some particular superhero films rated R. Movies like Logan and Deadpool could get their own treatment or exist in an “alternate timeline,” where the more family friendly films aren’t tied to their risque counterparts.

But seriously, the Deadpool movies need to stay rated R so when the Spiderman crossover films come out, this happens.

Khal Drogo And Tormund Met In Real Life And Fans Can't Get Enough

Jason Momoa was in London over the weekend, according toBuzzFeed, promoting his new film. But just because you have to work, doesn’t mean there isn’t time for play. You know who else was in the area? Most of the cast of Game of Thrones, and when Khal Drogo is in town, the group gets together.

Momoa posted a delightful recap of his time visiting old friends that gets hilariously darker and blurrier as the party seems to go on. He’s also wearing a crazy hat for some reason:

But here’s the big news: we finally get to see Khal Drogo and Tormund together, at long last! And Jon Snow snuck in there. This is like a reunion that is entirely based on fan fiction, and it’s perfect.

Momoa also reunited with his Khaleesi, Emilia Clarke, and introduced her to another superhero, Gal Gadot. What if Wonder Woman just showed up in Westeros? That would be a rad crossover.

But this is adorable enough on its own:

It’s wonderful when fans get to see TV and movie stars they love looking like they love each other. Now, if only we could figure out what pub they’re at tonight…

Butterbeer Donuts Are Here And 'Harry Potter' Fans Are Freaking Out

My wife is the one responsible for my appreciation of all things Potter-related. One of the biggest takeaways I had from the movies when she finally sat me down to binge watch them all was that the wizards of Hogwarts really, really knew how to eat.

Cauldron cakes? Steak and kidney pies? Treacle tarts? Come on, sign me up baby. I want it all! But the one treat I craved for most wasn’t even really food: it was Butterbeer. I’m not the biggest fan of butterscotch, but my God, when those three little magical nerds sat down to sip on some of the buttery business, my mouth began watering.

Sugar Shack Donuts & Coffee out of Virginia has created a Butterbeer donut that looks absolutely incredible. If you’re not familiar with Butterbeer, it tastes like a mash-up of cream soda and butterscotch.

Not only has Sugar Shack made a donut that’s full of Butterbeer flavor, but as an homage to Harry Potter, they packed a golden snitch made out of a donut hole so you can regale your friends with tales of your quidditch prowess right before you bite into it.

The donuts pack golden star sprinkles and the snitch is decked out with vanilla fondant wings: It truly is a thing of beauty.

Now if you want to get yourself one of these tasty treats, you’ll have to be quick about it. Sugar Shack is offering these at all of their locations eventually, but the availability will be limited. So hop on your nimbus 2000 to pick one up, but you may want to call ahead just to make sure your nearest shop carries them.

Rick And Morty's Co-Creator Demands Fans Stop Harassing Female Writers

Rick and Morty is a very popular animated sci-fi show currently in its third season. The previous two seasons have had an all male writing staff. This year, however, the show added four women to it’s staff and for the first time ever had an equal balance between men and women.

For whatever reason, this upset a great number of fans. They’ve taken to harassing these women online, including posting public information about them, like their home addresses.

Entrainment Weekly asked one of the show’s co-creators, Dan Harmon, what he thought of the controversy and the always out-spoken Dan Harmon had a lot to say

Even before the season began, Harmon talked about how having four women in the room was helpful for the show because it offered a new perspective and allowed them to write better storylines for their female characters.

Even despite Harmon saying that he likes having women write on the show and most fans agreeing that season three has been the strongest season yet, there is still a very vocal minority who feels the need to harass these women. However, now that Harmon has brought these issues into the spotlight the rest of the fanbase is also pointing out why the trolls are wrong.

Rick and Morty airs Sundays at 10. So watch the show, and fight the trolls.

Merriam-Webster Just Perfectly Trolled Sexist “Doctor Who” Fans

Merriam-Webster needed only six words to shut down sexistDr. Whofans who complained about the show’s latest casting announcement.

Over the weekend, it was announced that Jodie Whittaker will become the first female Dr. Whoin the 50 year history of the franchise.

Predictably, this ruffled the feathers of some of the show’s less enlightened fans.

On Monday, in response to the sexists complaining about Whittaker’s casting, Merriam-Webster posted this expert level burn to Twitter.

Twitter couldn’t get enough of the dictionary’s on point smack down.

Merriam-Webster even sparked a conversation about gender and language, schooling folks on both sides of theDr. Whodivide.

Come to think of it, dictionary has no gender either but when it comes to sexist Dr. Whofans, this dictionary has Jodie Whittaker’s back!

'Dear Evan Hansen' Star Ben Platt Responds To Angry And Disappointed Fans

Source,Source,Source

Dear Evan Hansen has been Broadway’s smash hit, winning multiple Tony Awards including Best Actor for a Musical. The show examines depression, suicide, and bullying. The role of Evan Hansen is an incredibly draining character. When star and Broadway breakout sensation, Ben Platt, didn’t show up to take photographs at the stage door, he began to be harassed on Twitter to the point of having to put out a statement.

Ben Platt’s performance in Dear Evan Hansen is a performance for the ages, so it’s no wonder people want to meet him at the stage door afterward.

So when he didn’t show up at the stage door at every performance, some angry fans took to Twitter to harass him.

As someone who truly cares about his fans, Ben responded on twitter.

I don’t know about you, but this man just proved he’s not only talented; he’s an amazing person.

And his fans couldn’t agree with him and stand by his side more.

Ben Platt, you’re amazing and we’re so happy for your success. Don’t let any of the haters bring you down, because even at its worst, “you will be found.”

The Rock Surprised Tourists On Disney's Jungle Cruise And His Fans Fell In Love

The Rock Surprised Tourists On Disney’s Jungle Cruise And His Fans Fell In Love

If you think basing an entire movie off of a theme park attraction seems like a stupid idea, just ask Johnny Depp and the minds behind the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, because in my opinion, that’s exactly what that first movie was, and they seem to be doing pretty well.

The thing is, with huge blockbuster movies come professional PR moves to promote the movie. That’s when you gotta get creative.

How creative? Well, how about taking arguably the world’s largest box-office star and having him surprise a group of tourists on the ride that you’re basing your upcoming movie on?

Because that’s exactly what happened when Dwayne Johnson crashed the Jungle Cruise ride at Walt Disney World.

The star shared the news on Instagram with some hilarious commentary.

Like pointing out the lady behind him was totally snapping a pick of his bootaaaay.

View post on imgur.com

Just take a look at that face and tell me she isn’t thinking, “Mmmhmmmm.” If you do, then you’re a liar.

Here’s Johnson’s entire awesome caption below:

(I think the lady to my right is snapping a pic of my bootaaaay)
Surprise! Once I committed to our Disney partners to make the movie based off the JUNGLE CRUISE ride, I wanted to dive head first into the research.
So I headed to Walt Disney World and surprised tourists by commandeering the JUNGLE CRUISE boat.
It was a GREAT day on the river. Learned a lot.. for example, it takes approximately 12.6 minutes for all the passengers to get over the shock of me jumping on the boat and thinking I’m a DJ look-a-like. One passenger even said, “Oh the real Rock is much smaller than this guy”. I threw his ass off the boat.
Jokes aside (and yes, with me as the Cruise Skipper there will be an abundance of puns) this is such an amazing, fantastical and cool world to build out. Best part about this surprise research day was knowing how FUN of an experience we’re gonna work hard to create for families around the world. That’s the part that gets my excited the most.
The movie. The ride. The experience.
It’s the cruise of a lifetime. And trust me, you’ll want me as your Skipper. Just don’t forget to bring the Skipper’s beer.
Next step… we find our visionary director.

There aren’t many other details available, except that the movie is starring The Rock and is being produced by Disney. They’re still looking for a director to bring it on home. Let’s just hope whoever they are, they remember to bring the Skipper his beer.

Adele Scolds Security During Her Own Concert, Making Fans Love Her Even More

When you’re at a concert and you’re really into the music, sitting down isn’t really an option. Adele understands this fully.

And although security has a job to do, like making sure fans don’t mob the stage and disrupt the performance, telling people to sit down who are clearly digging the show isn’t cool. Which is why Adele went off on the guards, urging fans to stand up by telling security to stop making them stay in their seats.
