Blinking White Guy' From Viral Meme Goes On TV To Talk About What It Did To Him

You may not know Drew Scanlon by name, but you definitely know him by face if you’ve spent any time whatsoever online in 2017. Scanlon is a video and podcast producer for the website Giant Bomb, and though he was well-known in the gaming world, it was his incredulous expression that launched him into the Meme Hall of Fame.

The gif of Scanlon comes from a video he made for Giant Bomb over four years ago, according toMashable, where he’s listening to a man describe his virtual farming habits. The guy says he with his “hoe,” and it looks like Scanlon’s mind jumps right out of the farmyard.

But the gif of his blink didn’t get really popular until 2017. Perhaps because it’s now in so many situations:

The problem with memes of people, is that they keep existing and have to deal with everyone knowing their face. Scanlon went on Good Morning America to remind everyone that he is a human person who does more than blink, though that’s pretty much what he was reduced to again:

They even tried to get him to recreate it, but it’s not quite there:

Hey, he’s a producer, not an actor. Those blinks came from a real place and can’t be recreated.

“We don’t really have a way of communicating body language over the internet, with text or anything, and memes are kind of that,” says Scanlon. Guess he doesn’t resent it too much? Thanks for letting us use your face for what can’t be expressed in words.

Barack Obama Tweeted His Own Biden-Obama Meme For The Former VP's Birthday

So much so that Obama even joked about the special relationship he shares with Joe before awarding Biden the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

And it was just in time for the former Vice President’s birthday.

Twitter absolutely loved the post and gave Biden some Happy Birthday wishes of their own.

Others were just stunned that Obama created a meme.

For some, the tweet was a sign of true friendship, a bond that stands the test of time.

The Best Moment Of 'Game Of Thrones' Season 7 Is A Cat Meme Now

Look, you can keep your zombie dragons. For me, the coolest part of Game of Thrones season 7 was Lady Olenna’s deathbed speech in which she confesses to Jaime that she killed Joffrey, his son.

The matriarch of House Tyrell, played by absolute legend Diana Rigg, was the coolest cucumber in Westeros and my favorite character in the entire series. So, of course, the internet has been paying its respects to the fallen Lady of Highgarden in the only way it knows: cat memes.

It’s a very simple meme, and yet it inspires delight in me every time I see it.

Maybe because cats always do look like they will poison your firstborn if you put stuff on their head.

But you might be wondering—does this meme work with dogs, too?

I am happy to report the answer is YES.

CeeLo Is Now Internet's Newest Meme After Showing Up To The Grammys Dipped In Gold

Award shows are held to a really high standard nowadays. Having a handful of the greatest entertainers the world has to offer perform just doesn't cut it anymore.

Evidently, CeeLo Green was on the same wavelength as the rest of us. He showed up dressed in gold from head to toe, and set the bar high for anyone else hoping to be turned into a meme before the Grammys were over.

In case you missed it, this was the red meat thrown into the cage that housed everyone on the internet.

Once everyone got a look at his costume, things went from 0-100 real quick.

Other people showed up in over the top outfits, but they may as well have come in with jeans and a hoodie. For example, Girl Crush, who I just learned was a person because my fingers aren't as close to society's pulse as they once were, came in dressed as a ball pit. At the very least, she deserves an honorable mention.

But even though he didn't win any awards, he definitely won fans' attention and will forever be immortalized online in a plethora of dank memes.
