Man Performs A Mashup Of The 'Home Alone' Soundtrack Using Only His Voice—And It's Impressive

Personally, I find acapella singing incredibly goofy, but that’s probably because I don’t have whatever level of confidence you need to make drum sounds with your mouth. Acapella super star Mike Tompkins has got a whole lot of that secret ingredient, plus a talent for giving the people what they want.

This Christmas, he’s giving us the soundtrack written by famous composer John Williams for Home Alone. It’s funny that I rarely think of this soundtrack at all, but as soon as I hit play I sighed, “Ahhh, this is what the holidays sound like.” Weird how music infiltrates your brain.

Let Tompkins bring that nostalgic magic to you, with just thousands of instrumental mouth sounds:

Yup, that definitely sounds like music!

Most live acapella groups are pretty accomplished at layering sounds to sound like a band, but Tompkins creations require a little technological assistance. In a behind the scenes exposé, you can see him working with literally hundreds and hundreds of tracks to make his unique sound.

He also shared a glimpse into what it’s like to do all this work:

Tompkins has been doing this for years, and has a huge following of acapella-enthusiasts. This is truly the golden age of not playing instruments.

Thanks for the holiday cheer, Tompkins, and for introducing me to a YouTube world I had never yet dared to enter. I might like acapella now?!

33 Things That Can Only Be Explained By Magic

Science is one of mankind’s greatest achievements. Part of what makes it so great is that it helps us explain the unexplainable. We don’t know how anything works until a scientist sits down and studies it.

That being said, there are some things out there that I can’t see science ever getting around to explaining. The world is just too weird for everything to be explainable. Some things are straight up magic.

You might think magic doesn’t really exist. I used to think that, too. Then I saw some things that could only possibly be magic, and now I know the truth. I’m sure they’ll convince you, as well.

Woman Orders Crop Top With Obvious Flaw And Discovers She's Not The Only One

Olivia Skuce, a 21-year-old from  Northern Ireland, recently decided to order a crop top from PrettyLittleThings. But when it arrived, she noticed a pretty hilarious flaw in the design, so she decided to share it with their customer support on Twitter…

Skuce initially thought she ordered the wrong size, or something from the kid’s section, but as it turns out, a lot of people were having the same issue…

And when we say a lot, we mean a lot

The price people pay for fashion.

This Blind Goat With Anxiety Is Only Calm When She's In Her Duck Onesie

Polly is a rescue goat who lives with Leanne Lauricella of Goats of Anarchy, a sanctuary that looks after goats with special needs. Polly has a laundry list of quirks, suffering from anxiety as well as blindness and neurological problems.

One day, Leanne was shopping around Halloween-time and spotted a child’s duck costume. Since Polly is only calm when she’s wrapped in a blanket, she figured it might be an easier way to comfort her. It was.

After the duck costume worked like a charm, she decided to buy her a few others too…

These Slippers Made From Goat Hair Are The Hottest New Trend And They Only Cost $1,800

Some people have more money than sense. Just look at the people willing to pay Apple $ 159 for their new wireless headphones that will go missing within 10 minutes of use.

If you’ve ever bought anything from Gucci, you know just how expensive they are too. And now, they’re trying to get people to pay $ 1,800 for these slippers than can only be compared to Donald Trump’s hair.

The worst thing? They’re actually sold out.

Net-A-Porter

The Net-A-Porter describes these monstrosities as “one of the most talked-about designs from Alessandro Michele’s debut runway collection.” And suggests that you “wear them with floaty skirts and dresses, or keep it casual in jeans.”

Users on social media had a different interpretation, making the obvious comparisons.

Others were just too shocked to believe that these were even a thing.

Fashion has offically gone too far, i’m calling it.

This Harry Potter Tattoo Can Only Be Seen If You Know The Magic Secret

There is an epic collection of Harry Potter tattoos in the world. The genre is like fan fiction that people permanently etch on their skin. Most are pretty beautiful, but still a lot to carry around with you forever. Like, Emma Watson is gorgeous, but do you want to be the canvas for her face?

Some of these tattoos are just simple and elegant nods to the popular series:

Some are…some are frightening. I’m just going to say that these scare me, though I fully support the right to do whatever you want with your bod:

Having seen the full gamut of what people can do, I didn’t expect to be surprised by anything new in the world of fan tattoos. Reddit user Littlefart (tee hee) has change that with this post:

If you can’t tell from the picture, the only way to read the sentence, “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good,” is by putting the tattoo under a blacklight. Then they magically glow. It’s really a Marauder’s Map with a secret code.

There is some back-and-forth argument in the comments about whether or not luminescent inks are safe for tattoos, but one commenter sums up my feelings about it:

Life is risk, baby! Get the goofy tattoo you want today, especially if you’re already up to no good. [h/t Someecards]

Troll beads lies not only in their uniqueness

The original Trollbeads were crafted from silver which was then threaded onto a piece of leather.  The first bead, named “The Mask” was made by Søren Nielsen in 1976.  After they went on sale in the small Copenhagen jewellers belonging to his father Svend Nielsen, the beads became known as “Troldekugler” or Troll beads, owing to the troll-like faces which appeared on Søren Nielsen’s original silver Troll bead.

The beads had a quirky, original quality to them, at once beautiful and humorous.  They quickly became very popular, and soon requests were made by customers for the beads to be crafted in a variety of different materials.  Today, Troll beads are available in a wide range of materials ranging from gold to semi-precious and precious stones, to freshwater pearls, and Italian glass, where the beads are created by specialist glassmakers, who heat the molten glass to 800 degrees while rotating it.

Different components were also introduced to the bracelet which meant that the beads could be interchanged depending on the wearer’s personal taste, including a removable lock.  Stopper beads or spacer beads could also be added to give the bracelet a more balanced appearance or simply to avoid them falling off the bracelet.

The resurgence in the popularity of Trollbeads has been reflected in their popularity in recent years.  Individuality has become a buzzword in 21st Century fashion and culture, with people stamping their personality on almost everything from the number plates on their cars to the social network pages they share with their friends.  With this in mind, it is perhaps little wonder then that Troll beads are now experiencing something of a revival and are now more popular than they have ever been before.  As a piece of jewellery, they offer much more than conventional pieces offered by most jewellers; as well as being beautiful, they are also highly personal.  As well as decorative beads, Trollbeads can be bought which have a specific significance to the owner.  Beads are available with a range of themes attached to them covering everything from science, to travel, mythology and music.  An anniversary can be marked by a date engraved on a simple silver Troll bead, for example. Or a new arrival could be celebrated by a silver rattle bead.  The bracelets are also unisex, adding to their versatility and uniqueness.

The appeal of Troll beads lies not only in their uniqueness and their ability to carry a message, but also in their timeless quality.  They make perfect gifts for close relatives and friends, and are as personal to the wearer as a scrapbook of memories or a photo album, making them ideal presents for Christmas and birthdays.  A Troll bead to add to the collection can then be bought for the wearer to signify a new special occasion.
