Man Shares Story Of How He Was Judging The 'Foreign Guy' In His Class

Thomas McFall, or @thomas_mcfall on Twitter, generally uses his social media account for jokes, but his recent post about misjudging someone in his classroom has people weeping extremely sincerely.

McFall explained in a series of tweets that he’s been sitting in the same seat in his Management class every single day. He also always sits next to the same man, who he describes as a “foreign guy” who doesn’t speak much English.

McFall admitted that he’s been judging this man all semester (though he doesn’t admit that part of that judgement likely comes form the man’s rudimentary English and McFall’s perception that he is foreign—he just says that he is annoying). Apparently, every time McFall has walked into class, the man has had all his belongings scattered across McFall’s desk, where the guy knows he sits every day.

Until recently, McFall Didn’t understand why this guy would do such a thing. Doesn’t he know McFall is coming? But then one day he saw what goes on in the classroom before he arrives:

A lot of people are moved by the story because they’ve witnessed the xenophobia and racism faced by people who visit the United States without knowing perfect English:

Others shared stories of coming to grips with their own ignorance:

Some found it incredibly heartwarming, while others pointed out that McFall didn’t really do anything except stop being an a-hole to the nice guy in his class who doesn’t speak English well:

Some said it may seem like McFall didn’t do much, but you never know how much something small will mean to people:

And overall, the story being shared and circulated so much means more people will consider how they perceive differences, and judge people based on those perceptions.

You never know who could be a friend if you just make the effort to understand them.

This Story Of A Boyfriend Helping His Depressed Partner Is Relationship Goals

An Imgur user named roasted Iguana reached out with her story of chronic depression on the photo-sharing platform, and one guy who helped her break through to the other side of her depressive episode.

According to her post, she has ups and downs with her mental health, but on a particular day when she didn’t want to even get out of bed her boyfriend swooped in to the rescue—and piled all of this crap on top of her:

There are many tactics for addressing chronic depression, and if you’re having similar issues, please reach out for professional help. But friends, lover and family can all find ways to be supportive.

What worked for RoastedIguana (great user name, BTW), might be a thing that would deeply upset another person struggling through the moment, but presumably her boyfriend knows her pretty well. What he did would annoy the crap out of me on my best day, but it worked for her.

It was kind of a pile on—no matter how RoastedIguana tried to retreat from life, her boyfriend kept piling more life on top. You don’t want tea? You’re gonna get tea.

Oh, and here’s a pic of the cat, for the record:

But in the end, RoastedIguana was able to write about her experience, because it worked:

People are touched by this story:

Depression is something that needs to be fought everyday, and supporting someone in the way they need is one of the greatest gifts you can offer them. Even if it’s just putting the cat on their head.

The New Yorker's Horrifying 'Cat Person' Story Has Struck A Familiar Nerve With Readers

It’s pretty rare for a short story to go viral these days. It’s not catchy enough. It’s not a meme. Where are the pictures? Well, there is one horrifying picture illustrating Kristen Roupenian’s New Yorker story “Cat Person” of two mouths kissing, but that’s probably not why it’s so popular.

The story itself is pretty simple. It’s about a girl named Margot, who is 20, meeting a guy named Robert, who ends up being 34. The two meet at her job, flirt, have one terrible date and bad sex, and then part. The tale is told from Margot’s perspective, and shows the confusion of being a young women trying to figure out men. At a certain point, it’s very clear that Margot doesn’t want to go through with having sex, but she does anyway, not knowing how to extricate herself from the situation.

What seems to be striking most people, is how familiar it all feels:

But there are lots of people who don’t get the story, especially men, who feel if the genders were reversed, everyone would hate the story. There’s even an entire Twitter account just dedicated to guy’s reactions to the story. Many seem to think it’s actually a news article, which is very weird:

There are also people who object to the portrayal of Robert’s body in the story as fatphobic:

“Cat Person” is evoking a lot of feelings, so it’s clearly touched a nerve in people.

You may not think it’s good, but this is a story that has meant a lot to a lot of people. Though it is a little disappointing that it’s not about an actual person made of cats, in my opinion.

This Story Of Someone Interrupting A Creepy Date Is Truly Inspiring

Oh, the “Nice Guy.” The dude who thinks you owe him time attention and probably sex just because they didn’t immediately call you names or they helped you move a couch once. All women have met them at some point, and a Reddit thread on the phenomenon contains many a sad tale about an abusive Nice Guy.

But amongst the bad stuff, Bored Pandafound a story from a user named ThrowAwayForPancakes told an incredibly well-paced and heart warming tale about someone stepping in when a Nice Guy was openly threatening a woman in a restaurant:

Too good to be true? Maybe, but let’s believe it is and enjoy it as much as the commenters did:

I want to believe in a hero cowboy! He doesn’t have to be nice. Just good.

Model Shares Terrible Story Of Her Assault To Challenge How We Raise Girls

Australian model Jessica Leahy is encouraging parents to change how they socialize young girls and boys so that both can grow up in a safer society. Part of that means sharing her own stories of harassment, some of which are extremely harrowing.

Leahy has been harassed a lot in her life, and not just because she’s gorgeous. Women everywhere can harassed by men. She wrote about her experiences for Whimm, explaining what she thinks needs to change if life for women is going to change.

Leahy’s experience is sadly way too common:

Leahy wants parents to stop teaching girls to be”good” or quiet, especially when they’re the targets of harassment or abuse. She writes, “From birth, we are told not to be rude, or bossy, or difficult and above all, not to be a bitch. And it’s this obsession with ‘being nice’ that is getting good girls into bad trouble.”

But it’s not just on girls to change and get less “nice.” Leahy writes that for women, it’s a constant struggle to decide which battles to fight. It can be exhausting calling out and confronting every instance of sexual harassment and sexism you encounter everyday.

She asks that men start stepping in when they see a woman being harassed. She asks that when men are along together that they call out “locker room talk.” She says what we need are “decent guys raised to be equally invested in making bacon out of chauvinist pigs.”

Give the ladies a break and pick up some of the slack, fellas. Or at the very least, keep your hands to yourself.

Woman Shares Story Of How Her Ex-Boyfriend Ended Up With A Face Full Of Foot Dust

We’ve all had someone in some point of our lives that simply refuses to listen to what we have to say. They’re usually the people that end up getting the boot, and that was the case with Sarah Gailey and her now ex-boyfriend.

Now ‘foot dust’ is a rather odd term unless you regularly scrape down the callouses on your feet, which you really need to start doing if you don’t already. The texture is both grainy and airy, and if you miss whatever container you’re discarding the shavings in, the small pile of former you scatters all over the place and becomes even more difficult to clean.

With that in mind, check out Sarah’s story on how her boyfriend ended up with a face full of her relative’s foot dust.

Chrissy Teigen Shared Her Horrifying 'Half-Naked' Hotel Employee Story And It's Hilarious

My fondest memory ever of a hotel is when I convinced my wife to smoke weed for the first time and we hotboxed the shower at the Borgata, got insanely high, had crazy sex for an hour straight, and then went and destroyed the buffet downstairs.

Good times was an understatement.

It wasn’t good times for whoever had to clean up the room afterwards, and even though hotels are “supposed” to be places where you go all out, that doesn’t mean I didn’t feel bad and a little embarrassed for the hotel employees faced with cleaning up after us.

But as humiliated as I was, I don’t think I can top Chrissy Teigen’s embarrassing story – because she had to face it in real time.

And although Teigen gets half-naked for a living, it’s kind of different when you’re carrying your baby and fearing for your life during a hectic fire drill.

During the fire drill debacle, Teigen’s mother (@pepperthai2) had some very serious concerns as well.

The whole thing was very disconcerting for Chrissy.

Thankfully, she uploaded a video for her followers, letting them know her and her mom were OK.

Even supermodels don’t like fire drills.

The Troll Story in Norway

When you are walking in the forest and along the river at night, remember you are not alone. There are little elves in the forest, and people in Norway call them the trolls.

Every nation has its own tradition legends about spirits. And for Norway, it is the troll. The trolls have long red nose, massive hair, and somewhat ugly. They are said to be the spirit of trees and the earliest conquer of Norway. The trolls are in charge of the night and the Norwegians are in charge of the day.

The first day I stepped into the earth of Norway, the sculptures of the trolls started to grab my eyes. They were really every where. They are at the doors of shops, in the train stations, by the street of the city and at the door of someone’s house. The bigger ones can be 2 meters tall and the smaller ones can be put into the pockets. But don’t try to make troubles with those little demons. I took a lot of photos of them as a sign of friendliness. At last I even brought a troll with a long braid back home.

The troll is the mascot of Norway. Many Norwegian grow up listening to the stories of the trolls. In those stories, the trolls are the earliest habitants in this land. They had families and people were divided into different tribes and they had their own kings. For example beside the lakes in the forests, there lived a kind of trolls named Nakens. They lived in the water. And besides the waterfalls and mills lived a kind of trolls named Falthergramenn, who were pretty good at playing violin. In one of those stories a famous violinist was once the student of the trolls.

The most interesting story about the trolls is that they sleep during the day and start doing thing at night. But once they play so happily and forget to hide themselves before the sun comes out, they will be turned into stones. In the stories, the trolls like to have porridge and it is said that their long noses are used to blend the porridge. So during Christmas the local people will put a bowl of porridge at the door of their houses for the trolls to enjoy their time of Christmas. The trolls are becoming more and more friendly.
